HALIFAX, N.S. – A community leader and economic development specialist is running in Halifax Needham for the Nova Scotia PC Party.
Trayvone Clayton was nominated as the party’s candidate in the constituency for the next provincial general election.
“For more than a decade, the voices of the people of Halifax Needham have been outside the places where provincial decisions are made. I am running to be MLA for Halifax Needham to change that and be a strong effective voice for the constituency I love as part of Premier Tim Houston’s government,” said Clayton. “Team Tim Houston is making progress to fix what previous Liberal and NDP governments broke in housing, taxes, education and healthcare. Our constituency deserves results, not more political rhetoric.”
Working for Halifax’s economic development agency as a community engagement specialist for the African Nova Scotian community, Clayton has a deep understanding of the importance of building up communities. Born and raised in Uniacke Square, Clayton earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology and social justice from Saint Mary’s University.
“Trayvone Clayton knows what affordable housing, food insecurity and community safety are all about. They are his lived experience, not talking points,” said Premier Tim Houston. “I need Trayvone elected as an MLA as part of my team to make it happen for the people of Halifax Needham.”
Premier Tim Houston’s PC Team has delivered record investments in healthcare, housing and infrastructure. The Houston PCs are also providing tax relief, while at the same time fighting against the Liberal carbon tax.
